Privacy Policy: Analytics, the Contact Form and Your Data
This site is run by Chance Ecom ("we"). It collects two kinds of information: usage data through Google Analytics, and whatever you send us through the contact form. We use it to run the site and reply to you. We don't sell it, and we don't run ads on this site.
What we collect
| Source | What it collects | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics 4 | Pages you view, how you arrived (the referring site), your device and browser type, approximate location, and how long you stay | To see which posts get read and fix what isn't working |
| Contact form | Your name, work email, brand or website, monthly ad spend range, what you need, and your message | To reply to you and prepare the teardown you asked for |
| Contact form, spam filter | How many seconds passed between your first click into the form and sending it, and how much of your message was typed rather than pasted | To tell real messages from spam |
| Hosting | Standard request data such as your IP address, browser user agent, the page requested and the time | To deliver pages and protect the site from abuse |
We don't run advertising pixels, retargeting tags or third-party chat widgets. The site's fonts and videos are served from our own domain.
Cookies and browser storage
Google Analytics sets two first-party cookies: _ga, which tells one visitor apart from another, and _ga_ plus an ID for our analytics account, which keeps track of your session. By default they last up to two years. We set no other cookies.
The English and French switch on our homepage remembers your choice in your browser's local storage under lang. That value stays on your device and is never sent to us.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The site works the same without them.
Who else handles your data
We share information only with the services that run the site and our inbox:
- Google (Google Analytics) processes the usage data above.
- Web3Forms receives what you send through the contact form and delivers it to our inbox.
- Google also hosts that inbox and provides the AI tool that helps us read incoming messages.
- Cloudflare hosts the site and handles the request data above.
We don't sell your information and we don't add you to a mailing list. When we prepare a teardown, we look at your brand's public ads in the Meta Ad Library; that is public information about the brand, not about you.
How long we keep it
Google Analytics keeps event-level usage data for 2 months, its standard setting. Contact form messages stay in our inbox as long as we need them to reply and follow up. Ask us and we will delete yours.
Your choices
You can ask us what information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. Send the request through our contact form and pick "Something else". Depending on where you live, privacy law may give you further rights, such as withdrawing consent or filing a complaint with a regulator.
Children
This site is written for businesses. It is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Changes to this policy
When we change how we handle information, we update this page and the "Last updated" date at the top.
Questions about privacy go through the contact form too.
