Creative Testing Budget Calculator: Fund Every Test Cell
A creative test cell needs about 50 conversions in 7 days to give a readable result, so its daily budget floor is your target CPA times 50, divided by 7. Enter your target CPA and how many cells you plan to run. The calculator returns the floor per cell, the total daily budget, and what the whole test costs.
If that budget is out of reach, don't spread it thinner: test fewer, sharper angles.
What the calculator tells you
Whether your test is funded well enough to trust the answer.
- Daily budget floor per cell is the least each ad set needs per day to reach roughly 50 conversions in a week at your target CPA.
- Total daily budget is that floor times the number of cells.
- Total test budget is the daily total times the test length.
- Conversions per cell is what each cell should collect over the test if it hits target CPA.
How to read your result
If the total daily budget is more than you can spend, cut cells before you cut budget per cell. Three to five genuinely different angles, each funded properly, beats fifteen variants that each get a few dollars and never leave the learning phase.
If even three cells are out of reach, run a directional test: give each variant 2x to 3x your target CPA in spend before you kill or scale it. That is about 10 to 15 conversions per cell, enough to spot a clear loser, not enough to call a close race.
The formula in plain words
- Daily budget floor per cell = (target CPA x 50) / 7.
- Total daily budget = floor per cell x number of cells.
- Total test budget = total daily budget x test length in days.
At a $40 target CPA with 4 cells over 7 days: $40 x 50 / 7 is $285.71 per cell per day, $1,142.86 a day across the test, and $8,000.00 in total. The 50-in-7 rule is the platform's learning threshold, so the daily floor stays the same when you change the test length. A longer test costs more in total, and a shorter one leaves each cell short of 50 conversions.
What to test inside each cell, and when to kill or scale a variant, is in our creative testing framework.
